UAB Orthopaedic Surgery Research Fellowship

Beginning in 2012, the UAB Department of Orthopaedic Surgery established a year-long orthopaedic research fellowship to provide medical students with a comprehensive musculoskeletal experience through a blend of research (70%) and clinical (30%) exposure. The program is designed for medical students and unmatched applicants with an interest in a career in orthopaedic surgery. Research fellowship positions are available in 5 subspecialty areas: Foot and Ankle Research (Dr. Ashish Shah), Hand Research (Dr. Ronit Wollstein), Pediatrics Research (Dr. Michael Conklin, Dr. Shawn Gilbert), Sports Medicine Research (Dr. Amit Momaya), and Trauma Research (Dr. Clay Spitler, Dr. Joseph Johnson). US-MDs between their 3rd or 4th year of medical school are preferred.
